All of the hooks I use are bamboo and sized with metric measurements. The manufacturer provides this information. I pass it on to help you choose your hook if it is another variety:

2.75 mm = US C/2
3.25 mm = US D/3
3.5 mm = US E/4
3.75 mm = US F/5
4.0 mm = US G/6
4.5 mm = US 7
5.0 mm = US H/8
5.5 mm = US I/9
6.0 mm = US J/10
6.5mm = USK/10.5
8.0 mm = US L/11
9.0 mm = US M/13
10.0 mm = US N/15

Wonderful aran texture! The pattern is easier than one would imagine because it is designed in such a way that only 1 thing at a time is happening. Very little to memorize. Use a size H/8/5mm hook for the body of the work and a G/6/4mm hook for the edging. Any worsted weight yarn. The sample is "I Love This Yarn" from Hobby Lobby
